Lyn Hannah

Board Chair

My name is Lyn and I live in Thornbury. I have three adult children and three delightful grand-children.

I have known of the CAN community programs for many years having volunteered as a young person living in Carlton, working in the Rathdowne St Towers.

As an adult I worked and lived on Phillip Island for 20 years as a social worker involved in successful, smallcommunity development and social justice programs. These were sadly absorbed by large organisations resulting in a loss of community spirit and effectiveness. This highlighted to me the importance of small, local community programs which I have supported since.

When we relocated to St Kilda I took up a teaching position at Victoria University (VU). I enjoyed the commitment to local programs in the west and the very diverse student and staff population at VU. During this time I served on the university council for five years; an experience that was invaluable and excited me about board membership. On leaving VU, I hoped to find a not for profit board with a vacancy. I look forward to participating on the CAN board and contributing to keeping community programs local.
